The Perfect Pour
A whiskey app built around your palate, not the crowd’s score.
You’re in the store holding a sixty-dollar bottle.
The shelf tag shows a score. A reviewer you follow loved it. But the last bottle they loved, you didn’t care for, and you can’t remember what you thought of the one like it sitting on your shelf at home.
Plenty of opinions about the whiskey. Nothing about you.
Your palate belongs to you alone. No reviewer, no score, not even the label can tell you whether this bottle is your perfect pour. So you guess. And every wrong guess teaches you the same thing, one bottle at a time: not bad, just not for me.
The Perfect Pour takes the guessing out. Scan the bottle and it lays the whiskey’s flavor profile over your palate on a ten-point chart, so you can see where the two cross and where they don’t. Add the distillery’s notes, the community’s, and the mashbill, and you decide for yourself: a close match to what you love, or a chance to stretch your palate somewhere new.
Then take your palate on the road. The Perfect Pour Trail is the first to match your palate to the distilleries along the trail that suit it best. And if you stop at one that doesn’t, it finds the bottle in that distillery’s lineup closest to what you love.
That’s the start. See when your allocations are coming on the allocation calendar. Share a tasting. Send a friend a handshake. 46 features in all, every one built around the same idea:
Not a score. Your palate makes the call.
What I said no to, and why.
No scores.
A score is somebody else’s palate, in somebody else’s room, on somebody else’s night. The app shows you where a bottle meets your palate and leaves the call to you.
No waiting for permission.
A single barrel is one of one. Nobody should wait days for a stranger to add it to a database before they can write down a bottle they already own.
No verdicts.
Not “this is bad.” “This isn’t for me.” A pour you didn’t love tells you about your palate, not about the whiskey’s worth.
Live on both stores.
Start from one palate.
Most things are built for the average drinker, and the average drinker doesn’t exist. The Perfect Pour starts from one palate, yours, and builds everything around it. It’s the same habit behind everything I make.
The recipe gets you to the table. The palate makes the call.
